The Role

As a General Paper Teaching Specialist, you will teach Junior College General Paper students across two of illum.e’s six centres in Jurong East, Bukit Timah, Novena, Parkway, Hougang and Tampines.

Teachers will be assigned to two centres according to organisational and manpower needs.

You will work with illum.e’s established curriculum, pedagogical frameworks and academic systems while developing the professional judgement, subject mastery and teaching craft required to become an exceptional GP educator.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering engaging, rigorous and outcomes-driven General Paper lessons;

• Helping students develop mastery across essay writing, comprehension, summary, application questions, argumentation and critical analysis;

• Building students’ understanding of contemporary issues and their ability to engage meaningfully with complex ideas;

• Teaching students to construct nuanced arguments, evaluate competing perspectives and communicate their ideas with clarity and precision;

• Monitoring student progress and taking ownership of academic outcomes;

• Providing thoughtful, professional and constructive feedback to students and parents;

• Building strong relationships with students and creating a classroom environment in which they are challenged, supported and inspired to improve;

• Working collaboratively with fellow educators to strengthen curriculum, pedagogy and the overall student experience;

• Contributing ideas and perspectives towards the continued improvement of our academic programmes;

• Participating actively in professional development, training and mentorship; and

• Contributing to the continued growth of illum.e as we expand across Singapore.

Who We Are Looking For

You should possess:

• A recognised Bachelor’s degree;

• Strong proficiency in the English Language;

• A keen interest in current affairs, contemporary issues and the ideas shaping our world;

• Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities;

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

• The ability to explain complex ideas clearly, meaningfully and engagingly;

• The ability to engage with different perspectives and develop nuanced arguments;

• A genuine commitment to student growth and academic outcomes;

• Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to continuously deepen your knowledge and improve your craft;

• Strong personal ownership, professionalism and reliability;

• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing academic team; and

• The ambition to grow alongside a rapidly expanding education company.

Prior teaching experience is advantageous but not essential.

What We Offer

Monthly Salary: $3,500–$5,500

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience, capabilities and professional fit.
