HOD Mathematics

RESPONSIBILITY

Reporting to Director on teaching/training/audit matters. This role is a dedicated internal and external client service position, involving teaching, program development, trainers training, and student/parent consultations.             

MAIN ACTIVITIES / TASKS

Conduct classes, Teachers’ training, and Lesson Observation

• Teach on weekdays, weekends (and during school holidays if applicable. Eg: workshops, seminars, etc.)
• Implement instructional activities and provide a positive environment wherein teachers/students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process
• Be an inspiring role model in leading teachers/students towards their own uniqueness and spiritual growth for their age group, subject area, and/or program classification
• Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds and learning styles
• Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment
• Conduct lesson observation of teachers/trainers – and provide feedback and AFIs to teachers/centres
• Conduct individual and small group catch-up sessions for teachers/centre managers/business leaders/students in need of extra coaching
• Research, Develop and Write Programme
• Plan, coordinate and research on application of MindChamps techniques to specific subjects
• Upgrade of the study Programme including course books and training materials
• Develop new programs utilising MindChamps’ unique curriculum, learning techniques and personal empowerment strategies & skills
• Conduct Consultations for Teachers / Students / Parents
• Conduct private consultations for teachers/students/centre managers/leaders who have completed the programme – mainly addressing issues such as motivation or the applications of techniques
• Follow up on students who have special needs or behavioural issues
• Meet parents to discuss their child’s progress, understanding of techniques and to give individual advice regarding their child’s needs as required
• Increase parent awareness of the student experience
• Manage MindChamps Programme
• Manage the smooth running of our MindChamps programme & curriculum
• Problem solves and deal with the issues pertaining to the programme
• Manage the teachers/trainers who are teaching the programme
• Address queries from teachers/trainers/parents pertaining to the programme

Requirements
ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (ASK)

Degree or Diploma in Education (MOE trained)

• Subject specialization in Mathematics for Primary level (preferably experienced in P5&6) 
• Knowledge in the areas of educational, developmental and/or cognitive psychology
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Experience in curriculum or programme development
• A confident, creative and Inspiring personality
