The role of an academic at the Singapore Maritime Academy is both challenging and deeply rewarding. We are seeking individuals who possess comprehensive knowledge and working experience in the maritime industry, along with a genuine passion for working with youths, nurturing them, and moulding their characters.
As a lecturer, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the maritime sector by developing curriculum, introducing new courses, and engaging in consultancy and applied research projects. Administrative duties related to teaching and contributing to School/Institutional strategic initiatives are also an integral part of this role. Successful candidates must be resourceful, innovative, and possess excellent communication skills.
Teaching Areas The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach courses for the Diploma in Nautical Studies, Diploma in Maritime Business, and Certificate of Competency, covering a wide range of topics including, but not limited to:
• Nautical & Shipboard Operations: Principle and Practical Navigation, Ship Knowledge, Ship Operations, Cargo Work, Meteorology, Electronic Navigation Systems, Maritime Communications, GMDSS, Basic Occupational Safety & Security Training, Navigation Simulator Training, and IMO Conventions and Legislations.
• Maritime Business & Logistics: Introduction to Maritime Industry, Logistic and Supply Chain Management, Maritime Economics, Port Operations/Management/Agency, Ship Chartering Practices, Marine Insurance, Ship Management, Marketing of Ship Services, HSSE Management, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
