Applicant will be responsible for English Educators (Early Years and Kindergarten), Teacher Aides, Children and Families (New and Existing) in the aspect of literacy activities and programmes.
Primary Function
Responsible to the Vice-Principal (Operations, Partnerships, Programmes) (in consultation with Principal) to review, design and implement a holistic literacy curriculum, and drive the development of teaching and learning practices of educators in the centre. Works collaboratively with Vice-Principal (Teaching & Learning, International Experience), Grade Level Leads (Nursery and Kindergarten) and other educators to ensure quality implementation for the children and their families in school and the alignment of curricula goals and teaching practices in the centre. Provides in-house training and support in teaching and learning strategies for key stakeholders where appropriate.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive the development and review of literacy curriculum according to national guidelines and evidence-based research.
- Review and develop pedagogical practices to facilitate meaningful and child-centered daily activities for children across the various age groups.
- Review programme planning and implementation for the literacy curriculum to ensure alignment with the organization's philosophy of teaching and learning.
- Works with the Vice-Principal (Operations, Partnerships, Programmes), Vice-Principal (Teaching & Learning, International Experience), Grade Level Leads (Nursery and Kindergarten) and educators to ensure proper delivery of the literacy curriculum and the different components of the literacy programme (including the use of all resources).
- Drive initiatives to establish partnerships and collaborations with families and community stakeholders in relation to the literacy programme.
- Plans and works with various stakeholders to set up appropriate literacy learning environments. Assess effectiveness and evaluate improvements to enhance the quality of literacy learning environments.
- Develop and review observation and documentation tools to provide guidance for teachers to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness and assess children’s learning and development in the English language.
- Submits Monthly Reports to the Vice-Principal (Operations, Partnerships, Programmes) as a review for the ongoing work of the MTL programme, highlighting what is going well and what needs improvement.
- Holds regular meetings/ discussions with various stakeholders to discuss, brainstorm, clarify, agree on, resolve, and act on matters related to the literacy programme.
- Contributes to the content, material and/or information needed for parent-teacher conferences that is related to the literacy programme where appropriate and applicable.
- Share methodologies and strategies and collaborate with the SJII PS staff team and other authorized persons such as students, researchers etc. in the spirit of showcasing the literacy programme that is unique to SJII PS.
- Participates in all organization and school-organised activities
- Promotes SJI International Preschool’s social mission and objectives through the activities of the school in reaching out to the children, parents, and community.
- Implements SJI International Preschool’s Shared Vision and Mission in motivating staff and leading by example.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Vice-Principal (Operations, Partnerships, Programmes) and Principal

Requirements
- At least a Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in the field of specialisation
- 3-5 years of working experience
- Able to lead teams and develop curricular content
- Strong understanding of early literacy development, including oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and emergent writing.
- Possesses good communication, coaching, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Has ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary professionals.
