Job Description - Senior SEN Teacher

Senior Special Education Needs (SEN) Teacher – Vocational Pathways & Job Coaching

At The GUILD International College, we believe every learner deserves a pathway to independence, purpose and meaningful employment. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior SEN Teacher who can lead learning programmes for neurodiverse students while supporting their transition from education to work through vocational training, workplace readiness and job coaching.

Through strong industry collaborations, internship opportunities and vocational programmes, we empower students to co-create their future with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging SEN programmes for students with diverse learning profiles.
  • Develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) aligned with students’ strengths, goals, and transition outcomes.
  • Lead and coordinate vocational training programmes, workplace readiness activities, and pre-employment skills development.
  • Provide job coaching and support students during internships, work experience placements, and school-to-work transitions.
  • Build relationships with employers and community partners to create meaningful employment opportunities.
  • Teach functional academics, independent living skills, social communication, self-regulation, and employability skills.
  • Mentor and support teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff.
  • Collaborate closely with families, therapists, employers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor student progress and prepare reports, transition plans, and employment readiness assessments.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Proven experience in vocational education, transition planning, work readiness programmes, or employment support for individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience in job coaching, supported employment, internship coordination or workplace inclusion programmes.
  • Strong understanding of autism, down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, learning differences and neurodiversity.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to lead teams and mentor colleagues.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience working with young adults transitioning to employment.
  • Knowledge of person-centred planning and transition frameworks.
  • Connections with employers or experience developing industry partnerships.
  • Training in Positive Behaviour Support, social-emotional learning, or vocational assessment tools.
  • Experience within international, inclusive or special education settings.
