Our Quality Vision is Making Micron the customer’s first choice for quality and Mission is to lead and inspire world-class quality through effective and efficient quality systems and services that deliver industry-leading products of choice.
Micron Technology, a global leader in memory and storage solutions, is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our quality team as a QMS Engineer. This role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the manufacturing of Quality Micron World Class latest products through automated, effective and efficient quality system.
Job Summary
The Contamination Control and ESD Engineer supports the semiconductor manufacturing environment by ensuring cleanroom conditions and ESD controls meet industry and company standards. This role is responsible for monitoring contamination levels, supporting tool and material qualifications, and assisting in investigations when environmental or ESD issues arise. The engineer works closely with cross functional teams to maintain a stable production environment, improve reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires strong attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic fab environment.
Main Responsibilities:
Monitor, analyze, and control cleanroom environmental parameters—including airborne molecular contaminants (AMC), airborne particles, and trace metals—to ensure compliance with stringent semiconductor fabrication requirements and yield critical specifications.
Execute ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) qualification and certification for FirstOfAKind (FOAK) equipment, process tools, and newly introduced materials, ensuring alignment with fablevel ESD controls and global semiconductor reliability standards.
Lead systematic investigations into OutofControl (OOC) and OutofSpecification (OOS) contamination or environmental events, performing detailed rootcause analysis and implementing robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to protect product integrity and wafer yield.
Develop, optimize, and enforce contamination control and environmental monitoring protocols, ensuring all fab systems operate within defined statistical process control (SPC) limits and reducing variability across manufacturing modules.
Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Operations, Process Integration, Equipment Engineering, and Facilities teams to address contamination risks, drive crossmodule improvements, and strengthen fab-wide quality and reliability performance.
Ensure compliance with semiconductor-relevant quality and ESD standards, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ANSI/ESD S20.20; coordinate with site and global quality teams to support audits, close findings, and enhance compliance frameworks across the fab.
Apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) analytics and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions to automate data collection, improve contamination event detection, and enhance wafer fab operational efficiency and decision making.
Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field relevant to semiconductor manufacturing.
Hands-on ability to perform equipment setup, basic tool qualification, and troubleshooting within a semiconductor cleanroom environment while adhering to fab safety and contamination control protocols.
Applies structured, datadriven approaches—such as SPC, DOE, FMEA, or rootcause analysis—to evaluate issues and support sustainable corrective actions.
Familiarity with AIenabled and automation tools, such as Python, Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, or Tableau, to support efficiency and data visualization is an advantage.
Strong analytical, logical, and critical thinking skills
Effective communicator, able to collaborate across all levels
Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning
Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus
Demonstrated leadership and a track record of impact are highly desirable
Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron
Embody Micron’s core values:
