Job Description - DC Network & Connectivity Engineer, APAC

What You'll Be Doing

DC Fabric & Switching

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain NVIDIA networking platforms (InfiniBand and/or Spectrum Ethernet) supporting GPU clusters and AI compute workloads.
  • Build and operate access switching, east-west DC fabric, OT/IoT switching, and server-edge connectivity.
  • Manage out-of-band (OOB) network infrastructure including server management ports, OOB switching, and management VRF segmentation.
  • Maintain accurate port inventories, cabling records, and as-built documentation across all DC switching layers.

WAN Edge & Routing

  • Terminate and manage lit carrier services (100G, 400G, 800G+) from carrier demarc into Nokia SR1 routers.
  • Configure and maintain BGP, VRF, and routing policies to support customer and service segmentation and GPU farm/service pod access.
  • Ensure WAN edge configurations align with Nscale's global network standards and service delivery requirements.
  • Support product, service, and network segmentation across the full stack — from server management port to WAN edge.

External Connectivity & Cloud Exchange

  • Manage technical delivery and validation of carrier circuit handoffs, including coordinating build-ins and demarc acceptance testing.
  • Enable and support cloud exchange connectivity via platforms such as Megaport and Equinix Fabric.
  • Support customer direct connect and network edge services, including cloud network enablement and cloud exchange integrations.
  • Act as the technical counterpart to carriers and connectivity partners for service delivery, validation, and escalation — working alongside Nscale's sourcing and commercial teams.

Physical & Optical Layer

  • Manage intra-DC fibre plant, optical patching, and interface connectivity.
  • Accept and validate lit service handoffs at the carrier demarc point.
  • Maintain accurate physical layer documentation including fibre records, port inventories, and as-built records

Testing & Validation

  • Execute end-to-end circuit and service validation testing at each stage of network build, commissioning, and change activity.
  • Use optical test equipment including OTDRs, optical power meters, and optical spectrum analysers for physical layer acceptance and fault diagnosis.
  • Conduct network-layer testing using appropriate software tools and platforms to validate routing, segmentation, VRF behaviour, and service reachability.
  • Develop and maintain standardised test plans, acceptance criteria, and validation checklists for consistent and repeatable network commissioning.
  • Perform regression and smoke testing following maintenance windows, software upgrades, and configuration changes.
  • Document all test results, findings, and sign-off records in line with Nscale's operational procedures.

Engineering & Operations

  • Own the full lifecycle of network infrastructure — build, configure, test, validate, support, and maintain.
  • Monitor network performance, proactively identify and resolve issues, and lead incident resolution across all network layers.
  • Maintain and contribute to internal build guides, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Support capacity management, scheduled maintenance, and infrastructure audits across the APAC DC estate.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent hands-on professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience across DC networking, WAN edge, and connectivity engineering in hyperscale or large-scale data centre environments.
  • Proven experience with Nokia SR routing platforms (SR1 or equivalent) including BGP, VRF, and service segmentation configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with NVIDIA networking platforms (InfiniBand and/or Spectrum Ethernet) in GPU or HPC environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of DC switching, access networking, OOB/management network design, and OT/IoT network segments.
  • Experience with cloud exchange platforms (Megaport, Equinix Fabric, or equivalent) and customer direct connect/cloud network enablement.
  • Solid understanding of physical and optical layer infrastructure — fibre plant, optical interfaces, demarc acceptance, and test equipment.
  • Proficiency with optical and network test equipment including OTDRs, optical power meters, and network diagnostic and monitoring tools.
  • Ability to work across the full network stack — from server management port to WAN edge — with equal confidence at each layer.
  • Experience working with carriers and connectivity partners in a technical delivery, validation, and escalation capacity.
  • Familiarity with network automation and programmability (Ansible, Python, OpenConfig, NETCONF) is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the APAC carrier ecosystem, regional IX landscape, and subsea connectivity is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills (Mandarin or Japanese) are advantageous given the regional remit.
