Job Summary:
The Draftsman is responsible for preparing, modifying, and maintaining detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation based on customer requirements, engineering specifications, and manufacturing standards.
The role supports production teams by ensuring accurate and up-to-date drawings are available for manufacturing and inspection.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings using CAD software.
Create manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and part drawings according to engineering standards.
Revise and update drawings based on engineering changes and customer requirements.
Ensure all drawings comply with applicable standards, specifications, and company procedures.
Generate Bills of Materials (BOM) and supporting technical documents.
Coordinate with engineers, programmers, production personnel, and quality teams to clarify drawing requirements.
Maintain drawing registers and document control systems.
Support the preparation of job packages for manufacturing.
Review customer drawings and identify potential issues or discrepancies.
Assist in developing standard drawing templates and drafting procedures.
Ensure proper filing and archiving of all engineering documents.
Requirements:
Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Design Technology, or related field.
Minimum 2–5 years of drafting experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar drafting software.
Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Accuracy of drawings released to production.
Timely completion of drafting assignments.
Compliance with document control requirements.
Support provided to production teams.
Preferred Skills
Experience with CNC machining drawings and manufacturing documentation.
Knowledge of ASME, ISO, or customer-specific drafting standards.
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and document management systems.
