Electrical Engineer
Heavy Industry Equipment — Gantry &Overhead Crane Systems
We are seeking a degree-qualified Electrical & Electronic Engineer to design, develop, commission, and support electrical control systems for heavy industry lifting equipment, with a focus on gantry cranes, overhead traveling cranes(EOT), and related hoisting machinery. The successful candidate will work across the full project lifecycle — from schematic design and panel layout through PLC/VFD programming, on-site commissioning, and after-sales technical support.
Electrical Design & Documentation
• Design electrical control schematics, power distribution diagrams, and panel/enclosure layouts for crane systems using AutoCAD (and/or EPLAN).
• Prepare bills of materials, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation in line with international standards (IEC 60204-32, IEC60204-1) and local electrical codes.
• Select and specify components: VFDs (e.g., ABB, Schneider ATV series), contactors, relays, circuit breakers, transformers, brake resistors, and safety devices.
Control System Development
• Program and configure PLCs (ABB, Siemens S7 series viaSTEP7/TIA Portal, or equivalent platforms) for crane motion control — hoist, long travel, cross travel.
• Configure and tune variable frequency drives (VFDs) for crane motor control, including brake sequencing and load-holding safety logic.
• Design and implement HMI/SCADA interfaces (e.g., MCGS or equivalent) for operator control and equipment status monitoring.
Commissioning & Testing
• Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) of crane electrical systems.
• Perform on-site commissioning, functional testing, and troubleshooting of control panels, motor circuits, and safety interlocks.
• Verify compliance with crane safety standards (e.g., IEC 60204-32, EN 14492, local WSH/crane regulations) during commissioning.
Technical Support &Continuous Improvement
• Provide troubleshooting and technical support for installed crane systems of various brands, including root-cause analysis of electrical faults.
• Analyze equipment performance data and propose improvements to control logic, reliability, and efficiency.
• Liaise with mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure electrical systems integrate smoothly with mechanical design.
Reporting & Coordination
• Prepare project documentation, progress reports, and as-built drawings using MS Office.
• Support procurement with technical specifications and vendor liaison for electrical components.
• Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in industrial automation, heavy machinery, or crane/hoisting equipment (adjust per seniority level required).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical schematic and panel layout drawing; familiarity with Altium Designer / Proteus for PCB design is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience with PLC programming (ABB, SiemensSTEP7-MicroWIN, TIA Portal, or equivalent brands such as Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi).
• Experience configuring VFDs/inverters for motor control(Schneider, ABB, Danfoss, or similar).
• Working knowledge of HMI/SCADA software (e.g., MCGS, WinCC, or equivalent) for equipment monitoring and visualization.
• Understanding of crane-specific electrical safety systems: overload protection, limit switches, anti-collision systems, brake control circuits.
• Familiarity with relevant electrical standards: IEC60204-32 (hoisting machines), IEC 60204-1 (general machinery), and local wiring/installation codes.
• Basic embedded programming (C/C++, Keil) and simulation/analysis tools (MATLAB) are a plus for custom control applications.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
• Prior experience specifically with gantry cranes, overhead traveling cranes (EOT/OHC), RTGs, or similar heavy lifting equipment.
• Willingness to travel for on-site commissioning and after-sales support.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset with ability to read and interpret electrical schematics under field conditions.
• Good communication skills for cross-functional coordination with mechanical, project management, and client teams.
• Adaptability to work in international or multicultural environments; willingness to relocate/work abroad where required.
• Combination of office-based design work and on-site factory/field work (may include working at heights, in industrial environments, or overseas project sites).
• Some domestic/international travel may be required for commissioning and client support.
