Engineer, Firmware Test (SSD)

As a Firmware and Product Test Engineer in the Solid State Drive (SSD) group at Micron Technology, you will help ensure our SSD products have world-class performance and reliability. Responsibilities

• Build comprehensive firmware verification plans for various firmware features.

• Develop white/ grey-box, known, and closed system testing methods to verify and validate firmware products.

• Analyze failures from weekly regressions and perform root-cause analysis.

• Communicate challenges, solutions, and mitigation plans to cross-functional management with clear and effective communication of both technical and non-technical topics.

• Participate in code reviews.

• Establish strong working relationships with firmware development engineers to improve code quality.

• Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.

• Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

• 2-3 years of experience in test development and validation (internship or academic project experience counts) 

• Familiarity with software testing concept (white/ grey/ black box, boundary, regression)

• Strong Python programming skills, including scripting, debugging and test framework development.

• Familiarity with Git development flow and branch management.

• Knowledge of storage industry protocols and specifications such as PCIe, NVMe, NVMe-MI and OCP will be an advantage.

• Highly organized, creative, motivated, and passionate about achieving results

• Ability to work on complex tasks independently with minimal supervision

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 

• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role‑appropriate AI literacy to use AI‑enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem‑solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a great teammate.
