As a Engineer/Senior Engineer Firmware Test Engineer in the Solid State Drive (SSD) group at Micron Technology, you will help ensure our SSD products have world-class performance and reliability. This outstanding opportunity allows you to collaborate with skilled experts to build flawless SSD firmware for enterprise and automotive markets. Your ambition and proven expertise will help us develop innovative solutions and advance technology.
Own and implement SSD firmware test strategies across development, qualification, and sustaining phases
Design and implement grey‑box / white‑box tests for firmware features, protocols, and system behaviors
Analyze failures from regressions, customer issues, and field returns with thorough root‑cause analysis
Drive test automation, regression integration, and coverage reporting
Partner with firmware developers and architects on feature validation, debug, and design reviews
Communicate test coverage, risks, and mitigation plans to cross‑functional teams and leadership
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership in SSD validation and test development
Strong experience in SSD testing and validation, including
Performance, reliability, and stress testing methodologies
Power management features, thermal behavior, and error handling scenarios
Experience with NVMe protocol and storage interfaces:
Deep understanding of NVMe architecture, admin and I/O commands
Familiarity with PCIe link behavior and performance characterization
Understanding of storage system interactions at host and device levels
Experience in firmware validation and debug:
Strong debugging skills across firmware, logs, and system traces
Experience analyzing failures and driving root cause across HW/FW interactions
Exposure to firmware development lifecycle and validation methodologies
Strong automation and programming skills:
Experience building scalable validation infrastructure and regression suites
Familiarity with CI/CD integration for test execution and reporting
Solid background in embedded systems:
Understanding of firmware architecture, memory management, and real‑time constraints
Experience working with hardware debug tools, logs, and instrumentation
Proven ability to lead technical discussions across global, cross‑functional teams
B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
3+ years experience in SSD firmware testing or firmware development
Strong understanding of storage protocols such as NVMe (PCIe knowledge preferred)
Experience in SSD validation, system integration, or performance characterization strongly preferred
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a great teammate
Candidates with 2–3 years of experience but strong Python programming skills and test development experience may be considered for entry-level positions
