The Field Engineer will be permanently based on-site to support Construction and Commissioning teams in resolving technical issues, while coordinating and monitoring corrective actions with Engineering package teams.
The role is responsible for ensuring that proposed solutions are properly documented, communicated, and escalated to the appropriate stakeholders. Where feasible, and in coordination with Engineering offices, the role will support the formalization and local implementation of approved solutions.
The Field Engineer will also ensure compliance with on-site change management processes, identify risks or issues that may impact other projects, and contribute to mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Special Focus
This role will focus specifically on monitoring cabling and connection activities, providing daily coordination and supervision in close collaboration with project partners responsible for these activities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Communication
Support and coordinate with site teams, contractors, and engineering stakeholders to resolve technical and operational issues.
Maintain alignment with project objectives, priorities, and timelines defined by project management.
Proactively communicate issues, lessons learned, and potential project impacts to relevant stakeholders and other project teams.
Cable Activities
Provide technical support for cable routing, pulling, and connection activities.
Ensure contractors and service providers have access to the latest approved documents, SMF responses, and Site Queries.
Ensure issues are properly recorded, documented, assigned, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner.
Coordinate closely with Seatrium and Engineering teams before implementation of any proposed technical solution.
Construction & Commissioning Support (S2-S3 & S5)
Provide technical support during Construction and Commissioning activities.
Coordinate issue resolution between site teams and Engineering offices.
Support implementation of practical and approved technical solutions on-site.
Process & Documentation Management
Ensure proper deployment and compliance with GFC, SQ, SMF, and Red Line processes.
Support Quality and Document Control teams in maintaining accurate “As-Built” documentation.
Organize technical review sessions with site and engineering teams to ensure document maturity and proper understanding of documentation usage.
Interface & Coordination Management
Coordinate with Interface Managers and Engineering teams on scope boundaries and interface-related matters.
Participate in technical, coordination, operational, and mandatory EHS meetings and training sessions.
Continuous Improvement & Lessons Learned
Identify recurring issues that may impact other projects.
Share lessons learned and process improvements across project teams to support operational excellence.
EHS Compliance
Support all EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) initiatives and ensure all implemented solutions comply with applicable safety regulations and standards.
Desired Profile
Educational Background
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience
Experience in HVDC project engineering design.
Experience in offshore HVDC (OCP or OCS station) or offshore AC projects preferred.
Exposure to high-voltage environments, including HV or live HV installations and GIS systems.
Experience working in multicultural project environments.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of technical documentation including specifications, cable lists, connection diagrams, SLDs, layouts, and equipment drawings.
Understanding of contractual obligations, scope limits, and evaluation of cost and contractual impacts of technical solutions.
Ability to analyze planning impacts and assess risks related to project scope.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word).
