Lead Automation Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the delivery of high-impact initiatives andcapital projects within the Life Sciences industry.

This is a key technical role where you willlead the design, implementation, and commissioning of advanced automation and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure, working at the forefront ofregulated manufacturing environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead end-to-end project delivery across the full lifecycle—from concept design through to commissioning and handover
• Design and implement robust OT infrastructure solutions within GMP-regulated environments
• Develop and deploy industrial network architectures, including Cisco-based solutions within the OT layer
• Act as the technical authority on Emerson automation platforms (hardware & software)
• Ensure seamless integration of automation and control systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, QA, validation, operations)
• Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, GAMP, and safety/regulatory standards
• Support troubleshooting, risk assessments, and technical decision-making throughout project execution
• Engage with stakeholders and clients to deliver successful project outcomes

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science (Automation, Control Systems, or related discipline)

Experience

• 10+ years’ experience delivering projects in the Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical sector
• Proven experience in complex automation and OT project delivery

Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of OT infrastructure across the full project lifecycle
• Extensive experience with:
• Industrial network design
• Cisco architecture (design, configuration, deployment within OT)
• Deep familiarity with Emerson product suites (DeltaV, hardware & software platforms)
• Strong understanding of industrial communication networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC, Profibus)
• Solid knowledge of:
• GMP, FDA, GAMP
• Regulatory and safety compliance requirements
• Awareness of OT cybersecurity principles is an advantage
