Lead Piping Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the piping engineering scope for the project from concept, FEED, detailed engineering, construction support, and commissioning stages.

• Develop and review piping design basis, material specifications, line classes, datasheets, layouts, isometrics, MTOs, and other discipline deliverables.

• Ensure piping systems are designed in compliance with applicable project specifications, international codes, and client standards, including ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, and related requirements.

• Review and approve piping drawings, 3D model outputs, stress analysis inputs, support philosophy, and technical documentation before issue.

• Coordinate closely with process, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation, HSE, and QA/QC teams to ensure design integration and constructability.

• Manage discipline schedule, progress measurement, manpower planning, deliverables register, and piping engineering priorities to support project milestones.

• Monitor interfaces with vendors, subcontractors, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely technical clarification, document review, and material support.

• Support procurement activities through technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews, and review of material requisitions and supplier data.

• Provide technical guidance during fabrication, installation, hydrotesting, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of piping systems.

• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, constructability reviews, model reviews, risk assessments, and client technical meetings as required.

• Review non-conformances, technical deviations, and field changes, and ensure effective engineering resolution and implementation control.

• Ensure proper material control, traceability, as-built documentation, and lessons learned capture for the piping discipline.

• Lead, mentor, and supervise piping engineers and designers, ensuring technical quality, consistency, and compliance with project procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline is required.

• Professional engineering certification or equivalent lead engineering experience in offshore oil and gas projects is an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 10 to 15 years of piping engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 3 to 5 years in a lead or supervisory role.

• Proven experience in offshore brownfield or greenfield EPC/EPCI projects is required.

• Prior experience on Qatar offshore project is strongly preferred.
