Grab is committed to building a leading O2O platform in Southeast Asia, where the efficiency of the platform is a crucial factor in measuring business capabilities. This team provides map rendering (POI, traffic, weather etc), realtime data flows, historical data capabilities for different business verticals (transport, food delivery, express delivery, etc.). The goal is to provide the most effective and reliable GEO services to achieve higher platform efficiency.

Get to know the role

Here you will be deeply involved in the development of realtime data flow as well as historical data management, get closer to the core metric of the business, and use massive amounts of real data to explore their relevance to reality. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to drive Grab's business growth through bit by bit insight and finally see the improvement of business indicators.

We are looking for a backend engineer to build our map tiles and data flow to help our driver partners to finish their jobs in a most effective way. We will need your excellent engineering skills to build a world leading GEO system (hyper local map tiles,  operation efficiency considering realtime traffic flow, user customization, interaction with realtime singles, instrumentation & analytics etc.). And also we would like you to give full play to your talents, boldly propose creative ideas, and practice them with team members.

The Day-to-Day Activities

• The service statiblity including map tiles, POI rendering, realtime data flows (traffic), historical traffic flows.
• Build the agentic flow to analyze feedbacks and issues from production enviroment.
• Build the data isolation for the new market expansion.
• Take the oncall to address key issues being escalated from the market.

The Must-Haves

• Agentic AI experience on agentic coding, agentic debugging, agentic sre etc.
• Experience in developing and maintaining large scale micro-services.
• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering in a distributed systems environment.
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Passionate about building products and features to accelerate business growth
• You can be a good coder in any programming language, but willing to work on Golang. Proficiency in Golang will be a strong advantage.

The Nice-to-Haves

• Background/experience in engineering, flink, presto, airflow etc.
• Good data analytical skills.
• Familiarity with cloud systems such as AWS or Azure.
