Maintenance Technician (Utilities, Facilities, Electrical)

Job Summary

The Maintenance technician is responsible for supporting the installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of plant equipment and systems. During the project phase, they assist in equipment setup, conduct pre-commissioning tests, and collaborate with engineers to resolve technical issues.

In the operation phase, the technician performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure optimal equipment performance and safety. They monitor plant operations, analyze performance data for improvements, and adhere to safety protocols and regulatory compliance. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential as they work closely with engineering and operations teams to facilitate training and ensure efficient plant operation.

Key roles and responsibilities

Project Phase:

• Assist engineer in managing project budgets and timelines
• Collaborating with other engineers and stakeholders to evaluate project requirements and constraints
• Assist Engineer in review of mechanical/electrical/instrumentation systems and components
• Assist Engineer in identifying and mitigating potential risk of the project
• Support project construction and commissioning of plant equipment and systems through active involvement in punch listing and commissioning activities; discuss equipment improvement and modifications with Supervisor/Engineers.
• Ensuring on-site compliance with design requirement and safety protocol
• Assist in input of data and information into operational maintenance document

Operation Phase:

• Perform maintenance activities according to procedures, good engineering practices.
• Manage and coordinate with Inhouse Contractors and Ad-hoc Contractors on any repairs, maintenance works, site visit and ensuring the quality of work carried out are as per requirement
• Assist Engineer in planning and implementing continual improvement programs
• Uphold a safe operating environment and carry out all maintenance activities in compliance with WuXi Biologics’ policies, Plant safe work procedures as well as plant inhouse rules and government legislation.
• Support to develop Preventive Maintenance SOP/Procedures and tasks to maintain plant assets.
• Complete training provided to build up the competencies.
• Perform all necessary LOTO activities based on equipment maintenance requirements
• Perform inspections for the received spare parts and tools.
• Ensure proper maintenance on workshop tools and safe keeping.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment faults and provide solutions.
• Able to work on shift
• Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by supervisor / plant management.

Requirements

• Diploma/Higher Nitec in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Chemical / Environmental Engineering or equivalent
• 1st or 2nd Class Steam Boiler Attendant (advantage)
• Licensed Electrical Technician (advantage)
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in performing duties equivalent to Maintenance Technician
• Operational experience in steam boilers, air compressors, chillers & cooling towers, air handling units, water softeners, and wastewater treatment systems.
• Experience in greenfield projects setup (advantage)
• Familiarity with and prior hands-on experience with CMMS systems like Maximo or SAP.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel). Experience with planning tools such as Microsoft Project will be an advantage.
• Ability to use AutoCAD for drafting.
• Must have ability to learn and work effectively with the plant's Distributed Control System (DCS), with the ability to interpret the P&I diagram and process flow diagram.
• Experience in system walkdown, inspection, testing, calibration, maintenance and repair of process mechanical and control equipment.
• Ability to be an independent problem solver.
• Highly motivated, proactive, enthusiastic, and energetic individuals are a must.
