Mechanical Design Engineer

Summary:

Responsible to provide engineered solutions to meet specific test requirements of customers.  This involves specification clarification and definition, design, coordinate with vendor on the fabrication, assembly and testing of the material test device/fixtures/apparatus before delivery to customer.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

·       Interact with sales specialists and business team members to propose engineered solutions to customer’s needs.

·       Perform design on 3D modelling, drafting and detailing of complete testing apparatus/fixtures/grip assemblies.

·       Liaise with vendors for supply and manufacture of all required parts.

·       Perform verification and validation testing to ensure the designed products/assembly to comply with specifications and safety standards

·       Develop supporting documentation, such as installation drawings and user manuals.

·       Provide technical support to service team when necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

·       Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years working experiences is preferred

·       Candidate should preferably have a good mechanical engineering design background, with experience in machine/mechanical system designs, and good appreciation of engineering materials and their mechanical properties.

·       Candidate must be able to think creatively to conceptualize engineering solutions according to customer needs, visualize the design solutions, develop the detailed designs and manage its realization till delivery to the complete satisfaction of customers.

·       Candidate should have the ability to engage proactively with customers directly or indirectly through sales to negotiate for a positive outcome on the design, i.e. technically excellent and commercially viable solution. This therefore requires strong reasoning skills to distil problems, and verbal skills to explain technical issues simply.

Skills desired from the candidate:

·       Hand-on Engineering design skills using3D design software (from concept development to detail design)

·       Good Project Management Experience

·       Good technical and theoretical knowledge

·       Enthusiastic about practical work on tests and verification

·       Fluency in English and good communication skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
