Network Engineer is responsible for supporting the deployment and operations of network infrastructure. They assist with the installation, monitoring, troubleshooting and testing of network systems and solutions. They monitor and configure network components to ensure security and resolves network incidents. They also ensure that network activities are documented appropriately and in compliance with the required procedures and standards. They are familiar with core networking technologies and trends, network standards and network routing protocols.
They will be required to be a part of rotational standby duties. They must be a motivated team player and driven by results. They also possess analytical skills and works well in a fast-paced environment.
Nitec, Higher Nitec or Diploma in Information Technology or a related field.
Experience with Networking and Firewall deployment and maintenance.
Experience in systems integration projects is an advantage.
Willingness to travel to client sites when required.
Strong team player with a proactive and self-motivated attitude.
Able to work flexible hours, including after-hours support for critical issues.
Typical Tasks:
Configure, implement, and maintain network solutions for clients.
Install and integrate networking hardware such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
Conduct network assessments and performance analysis.
Troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents and service requests.
Assist in project deployments, including on-site installation and testing.
Update network diagrams and documentation for design and planning of network communication systems.
Provide technical support to clients remotely and on-site.
Collaborate with project managers, vendors, and other engineers on solution delivery.
Responsibilities:
Configure, test, automate, integrate, model and analyse the Network infrastructure within the IT ecosystem.
Draft technical documents for processes, technology and devices.
Assist in determining infrastructure systems specifications, input/output (I/O).
Participate in technical design reviews of applicable solutions.
Provide suggestions on the direction for Local Area Network (LAN) and/or Wide Area Network (WAN), internet, wireless and remote access services.
Determine impact of network requirements on existing architecture, work processes and systems.
Update network diagrams and documentation for design and planning of network communication systems.
Configure network security across software and/or hardware components.
Monitor indicators of compromise or breach in network security.
Coordinate and configure network access and controls.
Administer tuning of networks for optimisation.
Assist in the development of capacity planning models, load-balance and/or redundancy solutions.
Consolidate network data based on key parameters or metrics.
Document network activities in accordance with organisational policies.
Review facility bandwidth requirements and system inter-dependencies.
Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve network issues.
Classify and prioritise network incidents for troubleshooting.
Prepare technical specifications and documents to procure network equipment.
Perform routine backups and administer disaster recovery protocols.
Assist in the development of disaster recovery plans.
Conduct regular maintenance, patches and upgrades to the network.
Additional Information:
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (L2 and L3), and switching technologies (VLANs, STP, EtherChannel).
Experience with firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/Firepower).
Knowledge of wireless technologies (Aruba, Cisco Meraki, Ruckus).
Ability to read and create network diagrams (Visio or similar).
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
