Job Summary

As a PLC Engineer at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1, you will minimize downtime by diagnosing and resolving system faults, collaborating with teams, and delivering technical solutions that enhance baggage handling operations.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve Low-Level-Control and PLC faults promptly to minimize system downtime
• Program, troubleshoot, and repair sensors, scanners, visualization systems, motors, frequency inverters, and encoders
• Support Low-Level-Control systems and address PLC issues raised by operations and maintenance teams
• Coordinate control system design with engineering disciplines and project management to ensure integration and functionality
• Provide technical support for root cause analysis of control system failures and document incident reports
• Collaborate with Vanderlande Global Service Desk to manage complex incident resolution
• Drive continuous improvement by enhancing existing control software and hardware systems
• Conduct orientation and training sessions for Vanderlande staff and external users to ensure effective system use
• Provide 24x7 support during critical situations and participate in weekend standby duties as required

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Software, or Industrial Automation
• 3-6 years of experience in automation industry control systems, preferably with airport baggage handling system PLC control
• Proficiency in Siemens S7 programming, TIA Portal, Distributed Safety, RSLogix, and OMRON
• Working knowledge of communication protocols and troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with ControlNet, Profibus, Profinet, and AS-I bus protocols is an advantage
• Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Experience working with Operational Technology and Siemens PLC during commissioning, installation, and debugging in an international environment
