RoleOverview

The Principal Engineer - Physical Security Systems is the senior technical authority responsible for the design, integration, implementation standards and operational performance of physical security systems within Prosegur Singapore.

The role provides technical leadership across enterprise-grade security solutions, including CCTV, access control, visitor management, biometric systems, IoT devices, alarms, intercoms, control room infrastructure and related network environments.

Reporting directly to the Deputy General Manager - Technology, the Principal Engineer oversees both the Maintenance Team and the Electronic Security Systems /Solutions Team, ensuring reliable project delivery, strong technical governance, effective team management and optimal system uptime.

The position requires a combination of deep engineering expertise, project delivery experience, people management capability and the ability to coordinate with regional and corporate technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Engineering Governance

• Define, maintain and enforce technical standards for physical security systems, including architecture, hardware selection, installation methodology, network design, commissioning, documentation and maintenance practices.
• Act as the senior technical authority for complex system deployments, upgrades, integrations and escalated technical issues.
• Review and approve technical designs, system architecture, project drawings, vendor proposals, implementation plans and commissioning procedures.
• Ensure that all deployed solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, maintainable and aligned with business and operational requirements.
• Establish standard operating procedures, technical playbooks and engineering governance frameworks for the local technical teams.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor and develop the Maintenance Team and the Electronic Security Systems / Solutions Team.
• Plan and allocate technical resources across projects, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and critical support activities.
• Strengthen the technical capability of the teams through coaching, structured reviews, knowledge transfer and performance management.
• Support succession planning, skills development and the continuous improvement of engineering practices.
• Ensure clear accountability, discipline and quality standards across the technical teams.

Systems Design and Integration

• Oversee the design and implementation of integrated physical security solutions, including CCTV, access control, biometric systems, visitor management, alarms, IoT devices, intercoms and control room systems.
• Lead the technical integration of multi-vendor hardware and software platforms into unified operating environments.
• Work with internal stakeholders, customers, vendors and contractors to ensure that technical solutions meet operational, commercial and compliance requirements.
• Evaluate new technologies, vendors and system capabilities to improve reliability, scalability, efficiency and service quality.
• Provide technical guidance during solution design, project estimation, implementation planning and final handover.

Network and Infrastructure Oversight

• Provide technical direction on IP networking, switching, routing, VLANs, bandwidth allocation, server configuration and connectivity requirements for security platforms.
• Ensure that network and infrastructure configurations support stable, secure and efficient operation of physical security systems.
• Oversee the diagnosis and resolution of complex technical issues involving hardware, software, network connectivity or system performance.
• Lead root-cause analysis for recurring failures and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.

Operations, Maintenance and Service Quality

• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for physical security systems.
• Monitor SLA compliance, system availability, incident trends and recurring technical issues.
• Establish escalation procedures for critical failures and high-priority customer environments.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime, improve response quality and standardize maintenance execution.
• Ensure that maintenance activities are properly documented, tracked and reviewed.

Project Delivery, Testing, and Commissioning

• Provide senior technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle, from design review to implementation, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Lead or supervise Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing, system commissioning and final technical acceptance.
• Ensure that as-built drawings, test reports, configuration records, technical documentation and handover materials are accurate and complete.
• Identify project risks, technical constraints and resource gaps, and propose mitigation actions.
• Provide technical updates, project status reports and escalation points to the Deputy General Manager - Technology.

Compliance, Standards, and Corporate Coordination

• Ensure that system deployments comply with applicable Singapore requirements, customer standards, Prosegur policies and relevant data protection considerations for CCTV, biometric and access control systems.
• Maintain professional technical coordination with Prosegur colleagues and industry peers in Spain, Latin America and other regions.
• Exchange knowledge, best practices, technical standards and lessons learned with corporate and regional teams.
• Support vendor benchmarking, technology assessment and identification of technical or commercial opportunities within the group.
• Contribute to the alignment of local engineering practices with Prosegur’s regional and global standards.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in physical security systems, electronic security engineering, systems integration, building technology or related technical environments.
• Minimum 10 years of experience managing complex technical projects, system deployments or maintenance operations.
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading engineering, maintenance or technical delivery teams.
• Proven experience with enterprise-grade CCTV, access control, biometric, visitor management, alarm, IoT or integrated security platforms.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking, server infrastructure, hardware integration, system configuration and advanced troubleshooting.
• Experience managing vendors, contractors, customers and internal stakeholders in technical delivery environments.
• Strong capability in technical documentation, project reporting, risk management and engineering governance.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Spanish language capability is an advantage for coordination with Prosegur corporate teams in Spain and Latin America.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in the Singapore or Southeast Asia physical security, systems integration or facilities technology market.
• Familiarity with Singapore standards and regulatory expectations related to telecommunications equipment, CCTV, biometric systems, access control, data protection and security operations.
• Experience working in a multinational organization with regional or global technical standards.
• Experience supporting large commercial, industrial, logistics, financial, retail or critical infrastructure customers.
• Vendor certifications or advanced experience with major CCTV, access control, biometric, VMS, IoT, networking or server platforms.
