The successful candidate is expected to possess specialised technical knowledge and practical experience in solar photovoltaic (PV) engineering, renewable energy systems, electrical engineering, and project execution.
Possess strong technical knowledge in solar photovoltaic (PV) system design, engineering principles, and renewable energy technologies.
Experienced in the development and implementation of grid-connected solar PV systems for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
Able to perform technical evaluation of solar project feasibility, including site assessment, system configuration, equipment selection, and performance considerations.
Knowledgeable in PV system components including:
Solar PV modules (monocrystalline, bifacial and high-efficiency modules)
String and central inverters
DC combiner boxes
AC distribution systems
Solar monitoring and data acquisition systems
Mounting structures and mechanical support systems
Ability to review, develop, and coordinate solar PV engineering designs throughout project stages.
Experienced in reviewing and preparing:
Solar PV layout drawings
Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
Electrical schematics
Cable routing drawings
Equipment layout drawings
As-built drawings
Knowledge of solar PV system sizing, energy yield estimation, and performance optimisation.
Experience using solar PV simulation and engineering tools such as PVsyst or equivalent software.
Ability to analyse technical data and recommend engineering solutions to improve system reliability and performance.
Strong understanding of DC and AC electrical systems associated with solar PV installations.
Knowledge of:
Cable sizing calculations
Voltage drop calculations
Electrical protection systems
Earthing and lightning protection systems
Electrical testing requirements
Familiar with grid-connected PV system requirements and electrical interface coordination.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, protection diagrams, technical specifications, and testing documentation.
Experience managing solar PV projects from engineering design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.
Provide technical guidance during construction and installation activities.
Monitor installation quality and ensure works comply with approved drawings and engineering specifications.
Experienced in supervising:
PV module installation
Mounting structure installation
DC and AC cable installation
Inverter installation
Electrical equipment installation
Testing and commissioning activities
Knowledge of solar PV testing and commissioning procedures.
Experience conducting and reviewing:
Insulation resistance testing
Continuity testing
Polarity testing
Electrical verification tests
Inverter commissioning
System performance checks
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and support system optimisation after commissioning.
Prepare commissioning reports, inspection records, and technical handover documents.
Proficient in engineering and project management tools including:
AutoCAD for engineering drawings and technical layouts.
PVsyst or equivalent software for solar energy simulation and yield analysis.
Microsoft Project or Primavera for project scheduling and progress monitoring.
Microsoft Office applications for engineering documentation and reporting.
Knowledge of BIM, digital engineering tools, or smart construction technologies will be an advantage.
Understanding of engineering quality control procedures and project inspection requirements.
Knowledge of workplace safety practices applicable to renewable energy and construction projects.
