Job Description

The National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites applications for one (1) Research Fellow position in the area of smart pavements. The candidate is expected to work in research projects related to the topic funded by the Defence Science and Technology Agency of Singapore. The candidate will be working with Associate Professor Ong Ghim Ping Raymond from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Design and Engineering (CDE)(https://cde.nus.edu.sg/cee/staff/ong-ghim-ping-raymond/) in fundamental and translational research in the development of new asphalt pavement design guidelines.
 

The selected individual is required to:

•    Perform field experiments on installation and operations of smart pavements including sensor installation, data acquisition, camera system development, edge device management, backend communications, and software architecture integration as core focus.
•    Work on mechanistic empirical pavement modelling and evaluation for airport pavements.
•    Develop state of the art solutions for high performance pavement system and work closely with contractors and agencies on field construction implementation to ensure solution is commercially viable.
•    Manage research project progress, grant administration, and finance.
•    Work on other relevant tasks set out by the project PI.  

Job Requirements

•    Possess a PhD in civil engineering or a related area. 
•    Applicants with relevant experience in both field asphalt pavement design and modelling, smart road development and field implementation would be favourably considered. 
•    Strong written and spoken communications and has the ability to present research findings in publications and professional meetings (including with agencies and the industry). 
•    Values teamwork and has good team working skills. 
•    Open to fixed-term contract.
