Job Description - Sales Engineer

Job Description For Sales Engineer

The role requires the candidate to consult with clients to design customized shipping container modifications (e g modular offices, pop-up cafes, industrial workspaces) and manage the project lifecycle from initial inquiry through fabrication to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Consultation & Solution Design: Assess client needs via site surveys and meetings. Translate ideas into structural design concepts, advising on container integrity, weight limits, insulation, and layout optimization.
  2. Quoting & Proposal Development: Prepare detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOM), labour costs, and project timelines. Ensure all modifications comply with local building codes, port regulations, and international structural standards.
  3. Project Management & Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between the client and internal welding, structural, and mechanical fabrication teams. Monitor modification progress to ensure quality control and timely delivery
  4. Business Development: Prospect for new clients across industries such as logistics, marine/offshore, events, and construction. Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and project scope.
  5. After-Sales Support: Handle client inquiries regarding warranties, structural alterations, or ongoing maintenance, ensuring overall client satisfaction.

Requirements & Qualifications

  1. Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering. Those with electrical background will have added advantage.
  2. Experience: Proven track record in technical sales, B2B account management, or structural project management—ideally within the logistics, or construction sectors.
  3. Technical Skills: It would be advantageous but not necessary if the candidate has proficiency in reading architectural/engineering blueprints and utilizing 3D/2D CAD software.
  4. Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal communication, structured problem-solving, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms to non-engineers.
