Second Engineer

Job Description as follows:

The Second Engineer shall assist the Chief Engineer and be employed in the shipboard operations of the Engine Department under the direction of the Chief Engineer. He shall be in charge of the following duties:

(1) The watch-keeping of the machinery operation.

(2) The operation, care and maintenance of the facilities and equipment under the jurisdiction of the Engine Department.

(3) The fire and flooding preventive measures, and engine related facilities including engine store and a workshop.

(4) The preparation for attending various surveys, and the control and safe keeping of certificates, etc.

(5) The control of spare parts of the machinery, and preparation of necessary records and reports.

(6) Entry in and safe keeping of the Engine Logbook.

(7) The operation and control of replenishment of lubricating oil.

(8) Other matters instructed by the Chief Engineer
