Senior/ Project Engineer

Overall job objectives

• To apply strong technical expertise and project management capabilities in the delivery of Extra High Voltage (EHV) power transmission projects, ensuring the safe, reliable, and timely completion of substation and transmission infrastructure in full compliance with utility requirements and international standards.

• The role integrates engineering design, site supervision, and quality assurance to achieve high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable power transmission solutions that support grid reliability and future network expansion.

Core Responsibilities

• Oversee design reviews, installation, testing, and commissioning of EHV substations and transmission systems.

• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and equipment suppliers.

• Ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards and client specifications for GIS, CTs, VTs, transformers, and protection systems.

• Assist the Project manager on managing project schedules, budgets, and material approvals (PQR/MQR).

• Supervise site activities such as cable terminations, SF₆ handling, HV testing (AC resonance, PD, insulation tests), and system energization.

• Prepare and verify technical documentation: installation procedures, checklists, test reports, as-built drawings.

• Enforce safety, QA/QC, and risk management practices during all phases of project execution

Job Specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

• Specialist Diploma in Construction Productivity (SDCP) is an added advantage

• Fundamental knowledge of power systems including transmission and distribution networks.

• Practical experience in EHV/ HV substation or transmission projects including installation, testing, and commissioning works

• Exposure to high-voltage testing methods (e.g., AC resonance, partial discharge, insulation testing) and SF handling is advantageous.

• Quick learner with a proactive attitude, willing to work in outdoor or site-based environments when required.

• Proficiency in English and Chinese, both verbal and written, is required to communicate effectively with stakeholders and partners who communicate only in Chinese.
