As a SMAI (Smart Manufacturing AI) Global OI (Operations Intelligence) - Scheduling and Simulation Senior Data Scientist at Micron Technology, Inc., you will join Micron's Smart Manufacturing Team to design and implement advanced scheduling, mathematical optimization, and discrete event simulation solutions that drive global innovation and maximize fab performance. Based in Singapore, you will partner with multiple departments and a global network of manufacturing sites to deliver intelligent, autonomous manufacturing solutions. This is an Operations Intelligence (OI) expert role requiring proven hands-on or research experience in factory scheduling, mathematical optimization modeling, and discrete event simulation, together with a growth mindset and a passion for exploring new frontiers.
Main Responsibilities
Design and develop smart manufacturing and AI solutions in advanced factory scheduling, mathematical optimization, and discrete event simulation that enable industry-leading manufacturing capability.
Develop high-quality data analytics and applications that provide actionable insights for management and manufacturing teams.
Collaborate across global sites to identify opportunities and deliver holistic solutions that drive continuous improvement in production metrics.
Drive global alignment and benchmarking of scheduling and simulation solutions across Micron's network of manufacturing sites.

Job Requirements
Minimum Required Qualifications / Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on or research experience in factory scheduling, mathematical optimization modeling, or discrete event simulation in a manufacturing or operations context.
Must Have Technical Skills:
Applied knowledge of mathematical optimization / operations research - LP, MIP, and meta-heuristics, with experience in optimization modeling.
Hands-on experience with discrete event simulation (DES) applied to manufacturing, scheduling, or operations problems.
Must Have Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse, cross-functional teams.
Self-motivated and proactive, able to work independently with a strong work ethic.
AI Requirements:
Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem-solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes.
Highly Desirable / Preferred Skills or Experience:
Experience with optimization solvers such as CPLEX or Gurobi, and DES tools.
Ability to combine classical operations research (optimization and simulation) with data-driven and AI methods to build hybrid solutions.
Experience applying AI / reinforcement learning or multi-agent systems to dynamic scheduling or dispatching problems.
Direct experience with factory scheduling.
Exposure to semiconductor or high-volume manufacturing (HVM) operations.
Other Requirements:
Able and willing to travel overseas for global site engagement and collaboration.
