Staff Engineer - Software (AI)

Position Summary

We are looking for a Staff Engineer, Software (AI) who will be responsible for Software System architecture, leading the development of advanced AI solutions within the project team, adopting best in class technologies with cost effective, quality driven and performance optimised, ensuring alignment with the product requirements. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to innovate, implement and deliver AI technologies through effective collaboration, technical execution and clear communication to meet project goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect the core AI application platform, its technical roadmap and software ecosystem governance
• Design high-performance API contracts, microservices and orchestration layers connecting backing AI to client apps
• Balance critical trade-offs regarding system scalability, operational costs, performance and long-term code maintainability
• Lead the software integration, deployment and performance optimisation of AI application into high-availability systems
• Minimise end-to-end inference latency and maximise application hardware resource efficiency
• Build system observability, error-handling protocols and fallback mechanisms for enterprise-grade product reliability
• Serve as the technical authority across teams to resolve complex architectural dependencies and system blocks
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to transform product requirements into scalable software specifications
• Enforce modern software standards, rigorous code design patterns, structural reviews and automated testing
• Develop robust data logging, tracing and data pipelines for system monitoring and data governance
• Provide technical mentorship to engineering teams, boosting code quality and overall technical capabilities
• Integrate next-generation AI technologies, including LLM orchestration, multi-agent workflows and intelligent inference routing

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in a similar role, with proven hands-on experience in designing and developing application software
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role
• Minimum 2 years of deploying AI models in real-world applications
• Proven track record of working within modern Agile software development frameworks
• Practical familiarity with consuming or orchestrating natural language processing (NLP) or computer vision capabilities at the application layer
• High proficiency in programming language such as Python or C/ C++, with a deep understanding of asynchronous communication and microservices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to translate product requirements into clean, scalable software specifications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, fluency in Chinese is a plus for effective interaction with Chinese-speaking stakeholders
