Steam Engineer

Company Overview

My client is a Singapore-based company specializing in operations and maintenance services, focusing on efficient and safe facility management including steam systems and auxiliary operations.

Job Summary

You will ensure smooth and safe operations of the facility’s steam system and auxiliaries, lead operators to comply with process and emission standards, analyze plant performance data, and implement improvements to optimize plant efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

• Monitor control system parameters, BMS, and distributed control systems to maintain optimal plant and steam system operations
• Conduct regular field inspections of plant equipment and subsystems to verify safe and normal operating conditions
• Lead and supervise boiler and plant operators to operate treatment processes within defined process parameters and emission limits
• Identify plant optimization opportunities and support implementation of approved improvements with site management
• Develop, update, and implement Standard Operating Procedures for plant operations and maintenance in collaboration with the operations and maintenance team
• Analyze and interpret steam operations data and plant performance reports on a periodic and timely basis
• Diagnose and recover plant process upsets and equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime
• Perform regular inspection and testing of equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency
• Manage and follow up on maintenance logs and repair procedures using CMMS to ensure equipment safety
• Inspect facilities for hazards such as leaks, corrosion, or exposure to extreme temperatures and take corrective actions
• Monitor steam pressure and temperature levels to maintain safe operating conditions
• Advise management on process efficiency improvements and cost reduction strategies
• Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety Act and related regulations
• Execute other tasks assigned by the site manager

Required competencies and certifications

• Minimum CLASS 2 Steam Engineer registration under MOM
• Familiarity with FMEA, HAZOP, and Job Hazard Analysis methodologies

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Registered First-Aider Certification (added advantage)
• Strong interpersonal, management, decision-making, innovative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
