Technical Superintendent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical management and operational readiness of a fleet of coastal tankers and barges. Based in Singapore, this role involves regular rotational assignments in Fujairah, UAE (2–3 months) and is responsible for ensuring vessels comply with international maritime regulations, classification requirements, and company standards while maintaining safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the technical condition and maintenance of assigned vessels, ensuring compliance with Classification Society, Flag State, Port State, Oil Major, and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Oversee the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and ensure maintenance activities are completed in accordance with company procedures.

• Review and approve repair works, purchase orders, and work orders while monitoring repair progress and quality.

• Prepare dry-docking and repair specifications, coordinating and supervising work throughout the docking period.

• Monitor vessel maintenance budgets and ensure cost-effective operations while meeting owners' performance standards.

• Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.

• Coordinate and support inspections by Classification Societies, Flag State, Port State, Oil Majors, and other regulatory bodies.

• Liaise with terminal representatives, charterers, agents, operators, and relevant external stakeholders to support vessel operations.

• Act as the primary technical contact for vessel-related matters during overseas assignments in Fujairah.

• Work closely with the Crew Department to support crew-related operational and technical matters.

Requirements

• COC Class 1 certification is mandatory.

• Sailing/seagoing experience as a Technical Superintendent, Chief Engineer, or Second Engineer on tanker or foreign-going vessels.

• Minimum 3–5 years of shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent in a tanker company.

• Willing to travel and work on a 2–3 month rotational assignment in Fujairah, UAE.

• Good command of written and spoken English.

• Familiar with Oil Major vetting and inspection requirements.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Proactive, resourceful, and results-oriented with strong technical and operational management capabilities.
