About Us

Vivo Surgical is a patient-focused, clinician-driven medical device developer and manufacturer. Headquartered in Singapore with offices in China and Thailand, we are pioneering a novel endoscopic surgical robot for complex endoluminal surgeries. ISO 13485 certified with international accreditations awarded such as the US FDA and European CE mark, our devices target the medical needs of the world through innovative applications of science & technology. These encompass such fields as in vivo surgical LED lighting, portable endoscopy and endoscopic robots, which are strategically co-developed with world-class healthcare institutions and KOL collaborators. Join us as we build towards our vision of being Asia Pacific’s leading medical device developer and manufacturer.

About The Role

We value the importance of having a robust engineering team that would serve as a key pillar for sustained commercial success. To that end, we are looking for a Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer to join us on this journey. In this role, you will be part of our fast-paced, fast-growing team and will take ownership of your role from the get-go. You will be planning, performing and documenting the system verification, integration and validation activities of our robotic system. You will be testing the requirements of our surgical robot to ensure that the product functions as intended. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team composed of mechanical, electrical, software and clinical engineers to develop the necessary test setups, protocols and reports. Your role will require you to work in close tandem with our external partners and suppliers.

Your responsibilities shall include the following:

  • Interpret and translate system and subsystem design requirements into verification and validation plan.
  • Develop test protocols, procedures and methodologies based on requirements and risk considerations.
  • Design, develop test fixtures, jigs and test systems for verification activities.
  • Execute testing, analyze results and generate comprehensive reports, ensuring full requirements traceability and system characterization.
  • Coordinate and support external compliance testing (e.g. IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, ISO 10993), including preparation and documentation.
  • Contribute to risk management processes including Design FMEA and hazard analysis activities.
  • Ensure all test equipment is properly maintained, calibrated and compliant with quality standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve system issues and failures.
  • Drive continuous improvement by contributing ideas and supporting rapid design iterations to better meet user and clinical needs.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the medical device industry, with hands-on involvement in testing electromechanical systems.
  • Solid understanding of standards such as IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2 and ISO 14971 is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing design verification protocols, generating test reports within a New Product Development (NPD) environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and ability to interpret technical drawings is a plus.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and methodologies such as Gage R&R and Minitab is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
