Job Description - WSH Officer (Registered WSHO)

Job Requirements

We are looking for an experienced Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) Officer to oversee and promote workplace safety across our oil & gas, petrochemical, and industrial construction projects.

Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in Workplace Safety & Health (WSH), preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial construction projects.
  • Familiar with WSH management systems and safety practices within the construction industry.
  • Good knowledge of applicable WSH legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, developing Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), and implementing site safety measures.
  • Able to prepare and maintain WSH documentation, reports, and records.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple site activities.
  • Possess relevant WSH certifications and qualifications as required by local regulations (e.g. registered WSH Officer or equivalent).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and coordinate Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) requirements in accordance with contract specifications, company policies, and statutory regulations.
  • Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with approved Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements, and safety standards.
  • Conduct routine site safety inspections and audits, identify hazards, and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain WSH documentation, including Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures, Method Statements, inspection reports, and safety records.
  • Conduct site safety inductions, toolbox meetings, and safety briefings for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, prepare investigation reports, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, and relevant authorities on WSH matters.
  • Monitor high-risk activities, including lifting operations, hot works, confined space entry, work at height, and excavation works, ensuring compliance with safety requirements.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety equipment, and emergency response arrangements.
  • Participate in client safety meetings, inspections, and audits, ensuring timely closure of safety observations and non-conformances.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, permits, certifications, and statutory submissions.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by providing guidance and encouraging safe work practices across the project team.
  • Perform any other WSH-related duties assigned by the Project Manager or Management.
