Senior Network Engineer

Job Summary

The senior network engineer is a technical expert who designs, implements, and maintains the network infrastructure for the Group IT, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. The role involves collaborating with other network engineers, system administrators, security analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver efficient and reliable network solutions that meet the business needs and comply with the security policies. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of network protocols, standards, and technologies, as well as strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Job Description

• Design, configure, and maintain the network infrastructure for the Group IT, including wide area network, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, wireless access points, and other network technologies.
• Design, implement and maintain cloud network solutions using various cloud platforms and technologies, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.
• Monitor and troubleshoot the network performance, availability, and security issues, using various tools and methods.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve network issues across cloud environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of cloud networks.
• Implement and enforce network security policies, standards, and best practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other network engineers, system administrators, security analysts, and business users, as well as external vendors and partners.
• Collaborate with other engineers, developers, and architects to ensure alignment of network architecture and standards with business requirements and best practices.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend new network technologies, solutions, and trends that can enhance the network efficiency and security.
• Manage and document the network configuration, inventory, topology, and diagrams, using appropriate tools and methods.
• Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, expansions, and maintenance activities, following the change management procedures.
• Build and nurture relationship with business users and external vendors.
• Work closely within cross-functional teams to achieve Group IT objectives.
• Contribute to a cohesive and high-performing IT team.
• Ensure adherence to IT Service Management processes such as Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management and Asset Management throughout our IT operation.
• Drive efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Plan and forecast budget for Group IT operation and ensure prudent spending aligned with Group IT goals.
• Lead end to end procurement process including drafting comprehensive requirements specifications, prepare approval papers for management review, and execute tender processes to select vendors.
• Has design, implementation and administration experience or knowledge on the following but not limited to:

1. Wide area network.
2. Application gateway.
3. Network load balancer.
4. Network Firewall (physical, virtual machine).
5. Wireless AP, routers, and switches.
6. Virtual private network.
7. Web application firewall.
8. Forward and reverse proxy.
9. Secure access service edge.
10. Unified communication / collaboration solutions.
11. Network management tools.
12. Network availability, performance, and capacity monitoring
13. tools.

Key Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and administrating complex network solutions for large-scale enterprise environments.
• Expert knowledge of network protocols, standards, and architectures, such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, LAN, WAN, VPN, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, QoS, etc.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.
• Ability to influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.
• Proven experience in navigating and thriving in a matrix organization, demonstrating the ability to effectively and communicate within an environment where various teams may influence project outcomes.
• Knowledge of security architecture principles, frameworks, standards, and best practices, such as TOGAF, SABSA, NIST, ISO, or COBIT.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with senior executives, business stakeholders, regulators, and customers on security-related topics and issues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance security risks and business needs.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, PCNSA, PCNSE, CCNP, CCIE, CCDE, JNCP, FCX, CISSP are highly desirable.
