Job Description - Assistant Secretary General

Company Overview

The Singapore National Paralympic Council (SNPC) represents Singapore in the International Paralympic Committee and other international sports federations for athletes with disabilities. It promotes Paralympic aspirations and supports athletes at major international events.

Job Summary

The Assistant Secretary General (ASG) supports SNPC’s management by coordinating strategic initiatives, overseeing operations, managing communications, and representing the organization to advance its mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute SNPC events by coordinating logistics, communications, and stakeholder engagement to meet organizational standards
  • Coordinate promotion of SNPC events to engage athletes, stakeholders, and the public
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance SNPC’s visibility and reputation
  • Oversee media relations including press releases, interviews, and public relations efforts to promote a positive image
  • Oversee SNPC’s digital presence, including website and social media platforms, ensuring effective stakeholder communication
  • Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with SNPC’s mission in collaboration with the Secretary General and stakeholders
  • Support daily administrative operations to ensure smooth organizational functioning and compliance with policies
  • Facilitate communication and coordination across SNPC departments to enhance operational efficiency
  • Act as liaison with external bodies such as the International Paralympic Committee and International Federations to build positive relationships
  • Contribute to policy development and ensure effective implementation and adherence within the organization
  • Represent SNPC at internal and external meetings and events, articulating its mission, values, and objectives professionally
  • Provide regular updates and comprehensive reports on organizational activities and performance to the Secretary General
  • Contribute to the annual report by highlighting key achievements, challenges, and communication plans

Required competencies and qualifications

  • Experience in corporate partnership and event management
  • Experience in strategic, operational, and administrative planning
  • At least 5 years in senior management, preferably in a non-profit organization

  • Candidates should demonstrate the ability to build and influence strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to identify strategic opportunities and emerging issues effectively
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills applied to organizational challenges

  • Competence in budget understanding and report preparation
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Networking skills to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, and partners
  • Professional representation of the organization in external settings
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, and upholding SNPC’s values and principles
