ART:DIS is a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering persons with disabilities through the arts. Through education, professional development and creative platforms, we support artists with disabilities to develop their practice and access meaningful opportunities in the cultural sector.
Role Overview
The Lead - Exhibitions & Artist Development plays a key role in developing opportunities for artists with disabilities through exhibitions, showcases, commissions and sales platforms. The role oversees the planning and delivery of ART:DIS exhibitions and artist showcases, manages relationships with emerging and professional artists, and ensures the effective documentation, presentation and stewardship of artworks across the organisation.
This position requires a highly organised and proactive individual who can balance project management, artist engagement, logistics coordination and stakeholder management while maintaining high standards of artistic presentation and visitor experience.
Key Responsibilities
Exhibition Planning & Delivery
Lead the end-to-end planning, coordination and execution of exhibitions, showcases and artist presentations.
Develop exhibition timelines, project plans, budgets and delivery schedules.
Coordinate exhibition venues, partners, curators, artists and vendors to ensure smooth project delivery.
Develop exhibition layouts and oversee installation, de-installation and artwork movement.
Coordinate exhibition logistics including transportation, fabrication, framing, printing and installation.
Work closely with the Marketing team on exhibition communications, publicity materials, event listings and launch activities.
Support Business Development efforts by facilitating artwork enquiries and sales opportunities.
Ensure exhibitions are delivered on schedule, within budget and in accordance with organisational standards.
Artist Development & Relationship Management
Manage relationships with artists represented by ART:DIS.
Support artist participation in exhibitions, commissions and showcase opportunities.
Provide guidance on artwork presentation, exhibition suitability, framing requirements and professional standards.
Coordinate artwork submissions, documentation and pricing information.
Monitor artist inventories and work collaboratively with artists to identify new works and replenishment needs.
Facilitate communication and coordination with programme teams to support artist participation across different initiatives.
Artwork Inventory & Collection Management
Maintain accurate artwork inventory and documentation systems.
Oversee artwork intake, cataloguing, photography, labelling and storage processes.
Track artwork movements across exhibitions, storage locations and sales channels.
Maintain artwork records, condition reports and supporting documentation.
Ensure artworks are stored, transported and handled according to best practices.
Artwork Sales & Online Platforms
Support artwork sales across exhibitions and online channels.
Maintain artwork listings and inventory records across sales platforms.
Coordinate artwork fulfilment, delivery and customer communications.
Monitor artwork availability and ensure sales records remain accurate and up to date.
Work closely with Business Development and Marketing teams to maximise artist visibility and sales opportunities.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain positive relationships with artists, caregivers, exhibition venues, curators, vendors and project partners.
Coordinate external stakeholders involved in exhibitions and artist projects.
Support the development of new exhibition and showcasing opportunities for ART:DIS artists.
Represent ART:DIS professionally at exhibition openings, industry events and partner engagements.
Administration & Reporting
Manage project budgets, procurement and vendor quotations.
Maintain project documentation, reports and exhibition records.
Track exhibition outcomes, visitor engagement and artwork sales data.
Ensure compliance with organisational policies and operational procedures.
Skills & Competencies
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or Degree in Arts Management, Visual Arts, Museum Studies, Curatorial Practice, or a related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in exhibitions, gallery management, arts administration, cultural programming or related areas.
Experience managing exhibitions, events or public-facing arts projects from conception to completion.
Experience working with artists, arts organisations or cultural institutions
Experience or interest with the Disabilty arts field of practice is preferred
Competencies
Strong project management and organisational skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and administrative rigour.
Familiarity with artwork handling, inventory systems and exhibition logistics.
Knowledge of contemporary visual arts and exhibition practices.
Comfortable working independently while collaborating across teams.
