Job Title: Deli Associate
Position Summary:
The Deli Associate is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while supporting thedaily operations of the deli. This role involves operating the cashier,preparing sandwiches and light meals, making coffee and tea, maintaining food quality standards, and ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for guests. The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a fast-paced hospitality setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service
• Greet and assist customers in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
• Provide product recommendations and answer customer enquiries.
• Ensure every customer receives prompt and efficient service.
• Handle customer feedback and concerns professionally.
Cashier & Sales Operations
• Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system accurately.
• Process cash, credit card, and digital payment transactions.
• Balance cash drawers and maintain accurate transaction records.
• Assistin achieving daily sales targets through excellent service and product knowledge.
Food Preparation
• Prepares andwiches, and other deli items according to company recipes and presentation standards.
• Portion and package food items accurately.
• Ensure food quality, freshness, and consistency at all times.
• Follow food safety and hygiene regulations during preparation and handling.
Beverage Preparation
• Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages according to company standards.
• Maintain beverage equipment and ensure cleanliness of preparation areas.
• Monitor ingredient levels and replenish supplies as required.
Store Operations
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of customer-facing and preparation areas.
• Assist with receiving, stocking, and rotating inventory using FIFO practices.
• Monitor product displays and ensure shelves and counters remain well-stocked and presentable.
• Support opening and closing duties as assigned.
Food Safety & Compliance
• Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of food products.
• Maintain compliance with company policies and local health regulations.
Requirements:
• Previous experience in a deli, café, bakery, restaurant, or food service environment is preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Basicfood preparation and beverage-making skills are an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Abilityto stand for extended periods and lift light to moderate loads.
• Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
