Kitchen Assistant

Located in 17 Baghdad Street, Mavi Turkish Restaurant and Grill is highly regarded establishment specialized in mainly Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. Our restaurant receives high remarks for its quality food and customer service.

In order to maintain, our brand and quality, we are looking to hire a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to assist the Cook with ingredient preparation as well as perform all washing and cleaning duties required in the kitchen.

To be successful as a Kitchen Assistant, you should exercise exceptional time management and ensure that all duties are completed in a timely manner. Ultimately, an outstanding Kitchen Assistant should be able to comply with all food health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Assist the Chef with cooking and in preparation of cooking ingredients
• Prepare hot and cold starters according restaurant’s recipes
• Prepare hot and cold beverages
• Assist with washing the dishes and cleaning sinks and countertops
• Assist with preparing and packaging of the pickup and delivery food.
• Assisting with deliveries and stock rotation
• Properly cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established standards
• Washing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes.
• Assisting the Chef with the preparation of meal ingredients, which includes washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruit, vegetables, poultry, and meat.
• Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floors as well as wiping down kitchen walls.
• Assisting with the unloading of delivered food supplies.
• Organizing and correctly storing food supplies.
• Promptly transferring meal ingredients from storage areas to the kitchen as per the Cook's instructions.
• Stirring and heating soups and sauces as well as preparing hot beverages.
• Address customer concerns and provide great service sets the ambiance of the restaurant and Understand and efficiently spot potential service issues and mitigate risks.
• Assisting with the inventory control, removing the garbage, washing garbage cans, and clearing refrigerators, freezers, and storage rooms.

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess at least Primary/Secondary School/"O" Level in Food &
• At least 1 Year(s) of working experience in the related field
• Required Skill(s): Food and Beverage Services
• Food hygiene certification is compulsory
• Passionate about food and customer service
• Must be able to keep up in a fast paced environment
• Must be able to physically stand for long periods
• Proven experience assisting in kitchens.
• A food handler's license.
• Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
• The ability to stand for extended periods.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• The ability to work in a team.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Required language(s): English. Chinese is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiar with Turkish, Mediterranean and Western cooking
