Restaurant Supervisor – Job Scope & Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant to ensure excellent customer service, smooth workflow, and compliance with the Company's operational standards. The role involves supervising service staff, maintaining food and service quality, and supporting the Restaurant Manager in achieving operational and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations Management
Supervise the day-to-day restaurant operations during assigned shifts.
Ensure the restaurant is clean, organised, and fully prepared before opening and throughout service hours.
Monitor service standards to ensure an exceptional dining experience for all guests.
Ensure compliance with the Company's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
2. Team Supervision
Lead, supervise, and motivate service staff to maintain high performance and professionalism.
Assign daily duties and monitor staff productivity.
Conduct shift briefings and communicate daily promotions, menu changes, and operational updates.
Provide on-the-job coaching and training to new and existing employees.
3. Customer Service
Welcome and engage with guests to ensure customer satisfaction.
Handle customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and promptly.
Resolve service issues effectively and escalate serious matters to the Restaurant Manager when necessary.
Build positive relationships with guests to encourage repeat business.
4. Food & Beverage Service
Ensure food and beverages are served accurately, promptly, and according to quality standards.
Monitor presentation and service consistency.
Coordinate closely with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure smooth service operations.
5. Cash Handling & POS
Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system accurately.
Verify bills and ensure accurate payment processing.
Assist with cash float, daily sales reconciliation, and shift closing procedures.
6. Inventory & Stock Control
Monitor restaurant supplies and operating inventory.
Report stock shortages and coordinate replenishment with the relevant departments.
Minimise wastage and ensure proper storage of restaurant supplies.
7. Health, Safety & Hygiene
Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace safety, and hygiene regulations.
Maintain cleanliness of the dining area, service stations, and equipment.
Ensure all staff adhere to personal hygiene and grooming standards.
8. Administrative Duties
Assist in preparing staff schedules and managing shift coverage.
Complete daily operational reports and incident reports where required.
Monitor attendance, punctuality, and staff discipline.
Support the Restaurant Manager in achieving sales targets and controlling operational costs.
9. Other Responsibilities
Assist with promotional events and special functions.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Restaurant Manager or Management.
Support teamwork across departments to ensure efficient restaurant operations.
Reporting Line
Reports directly to the Restaurant Manager and assists in ensuring the restaurant operates efficiently while delivering excellent customer service and achieving business objectives.
