Job Description - Sous Chef

ILS Hospitality is thrilled to share that an exciting new culinary destination is opening its doors this October. Our client is dedicated to providing an exceptional dining experience, combining innovative cuisine with outstanding service. We are seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our team and contribute to our vision of culinary excellence.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. As the Sous Chef, you will work closely with our Executive Chef to manage kitchen operations, ensure the highest standards of food quality, and lead our culinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the success of a brand new restaurant and grow within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in the planning and execution of daily kitchen operations.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of the kitchen staff, including Line Cooks and Prep Cooks.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and oversee proper storage of ingredients.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu development, recipe testing, and special events.
  • Step in and assume the role of Executive Chef when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure effectively.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
