Job Description - Director, Asia Pacific, Strategy & Operations

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Asia Pacific, is recruiting for a Regional Director of Asia Pacific Strategy Office (APSO) Strategy & Operations, Asia Pacific. 1.    Strategic Planning and Influencing

  • Lead APSO’s ability to generate strategic, regionally-relevant insights and present a unified “One APSO” point-of-view to regional and global stakeholders
  • Coordinate APSO planning process for key financial & strategy planning cycles and brand planning to ensure clear outputs and business narratives are prepared for leadership teams.
  • Partner with Finance, BI&A, TA leaders to align assumptions, prepare decision materials and support prioritization based on performance and portfolio needs.
  • Drive narrative development, stakeholder alignment and senior‑level presentations that inform planning and budgeting decisions
  • Shape AP market and portfolio strategy through independent point‑of‑view analyses that influence leadership direction and investment choices.
  • Strengthen brand positioning by delivering portfolio archetyping and strategic framing that guide regional go‑to‑market and portfolio decisions for key planning cycles
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to APSO leadership by synthesizing TA‑agnostic data into executive‑ready narratives and outcomes presented at townhalls, leadership reviews, and launch governance

2.   Pipeline Planning and Tracking

  • Coordinate early asset and pipeline planning by consolidating AP insights, patient needs, competitive context and enterprise priorities into regional asset strategy inputs.
  • Manage AP’s TASLT and PLR governance through agenda shaping, materials, follow-up tracking and escalation of key portfolio topics for visibility and enterprise trade-offs.
  • Partner with TA leaders, Cross Functional teams and Market stakeholders to shape evidence, access, commercial and launch readiness requirements earlier in the asset lifecycle.
  • Maintain portfolio dashboards, performance views and issue logs to help leaders monitor priority assets, risks, decisions and long-term outcomes.

3.    Operations Management, Compliance & Risk Assessment

  • Monitor operational, compliance and risk requirements across APSO initiatives, ensuring documentation, controls and escalation pathways support disciplined execution.
  • Ensure audit readiness and reduce compliance risk by establishing standardized SOPs, clear RACI accountability, and automated approval/documentation workflows
  • Monitor compliant purchase‑order creation, shorten time‑to‑approval for critical projects and strengthen supplier governance and approval controls.
  • Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks in existing processes and propose strategies for improvement
  • Ensure unified APSO operations and training to drive consistent reporting, vendor due diligence, contractor oversight, and scalability across the region.
  • Define and track operating metrics, milestones and management routines that provide leaders with visibility on progress, risks and improvement opportunities.

4.   Finance Reporting and Management

  • Coordinate APSO budget inputs, OPEX tracking, forecasts and expense visibility to align spending with approved plans, portfolio priorities and business needs.
  • Maintain financial dashboard for management reviews that highlight project spend, resource allocation, budget risks and key decisions required.
  • Track project investments, purchase orders, accruals and vendor spend to improve financial transparency, commitment management and value realization.
  • Ensure APSO senior leadership has robust, timely visibility into budget and T&E through an enhanced APSO SPEND dashboard and executive reporting cadence, enabling confident resource allocation and risk oversight.
  • Elevate finance‑operations collaboration to reduce redundant work and improve service quality to budget owners, increasing operational efficiency and accelerating decision cycles.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • A Master’s Degree in a related field or an MBA is preferred.
  • A background in Finance is a mandatory requirement; Familiarity with Marketing, Portfolio Management and Commercial Excellence is a nice to have
  • Strong experience in regional strategy development and cross‑functional stakeholder management.
  • Advanced presentation and narrative‑building skills for senior leadership (Cx) forums.
  • Proven ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analyses and translate results into actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering strategic projects and facilitating alignment across multiple functions.
  • Experience in building narratives and presenting to CxO level audience, is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to effectively convey complex ideas and recommendations to various stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Adaptability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and multiple concurrent projects.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of professional Strategy Development & Management, Operations Management and / or Chief-of-staff experience within the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device or healthcare industry is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience managing and leading a team is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% travel which may include overnights and/or weekends in support of the business is required.
