Job specifics

Optometrist's responsibilities

1. Conduct comprehensive eye examinations using optometric equipment;
2. Perform vision test and refraction to determine appropriate prescriptions;
3. Prescribe spectacles and/or contact lenses based on patients' needs;
4. Provide professional consultation and eye-care advice;
5. Assist in spectacle frame selection taking into consideration prescription and needs;
6. Assist in educating patients on why chosen optical products are recommended;
7. Ensure proper fitment and adjustment of spectacles;
8. Notice and highlight signs of eye conditions that are beyond scope of regular eye-care and refer patients to ophthalmologists as required;
9. Maintain accurate and clear patient records, prescription documentation;
10. Ensure and maintain optometry equipment for
    - calibration;
    - cleanliness;
11. Assist retail operations, not limited to:
    - customer service;
    - product knowledge;
    - sales

Technical skills and competencies
