Respiratory Therapist

The incumbent will provide basic and advanced Respiratory Care services to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardio-respiratory system.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a continuous improvement mindset to seek out opportunities for enhancements to quality, productivity and/or patient safety and care
• Collaborate with intensivists and respiratory physicians to manage mechnically ventilated patients, facilitate weaning and liberation from mechnical ventilation
• Initiate, titrate and wean patients off non-invasive ventilation
• Formulate appropriate Respiratory Care plans and/or change in therapy based on patient assessment
• Assist in critical care procedures such as Airway intubation, Bronchoscopy, Percutaneous Trancheostomy etc.
• Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial punctures and blood gas analysis
• Facilitate tracheostomy tube change and stoma care, humidification and aerosol therapy
• Respond to MET (Medical Emergency Team) calls

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years experience in respiratory therapy in ICU preferred
• Must be fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccinations
