Surgical Internship

VES is inviting applications for a one-year small animal surgical internship program at VES Hospital – Singapore’s largest multidisciplinary referral hospital with 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care.

The Role

You will work with 3 ECVS Specialist Surgeons in our surgical department under their guidance and direct supervision.

You will:

• Collaborate closely in communication and handovers with other departments, including ECC, anaesthesia, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, cardiology, neurology and oncology to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
• Assist in the full spectrum of surgical case management, including patient assessment, diagnostic work-up, surgical planning, intraoperative support, postoperative care and client communication across a variety of surgical cases.
• Participate in case rounds/discussions, inter-department journal club meetings and case presentations.
• Be encouraged to complete a publication by the end of your internship.
• Work an average of 5 days per week.
• Compensated for Out of Hours or night surgeries.

This is a highly supported position with no primary case responsibility.

It is a full-time, fixed-term (12-month) position with a monthly base salary.

Criteria

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
• Eligibility for Singapore Vet Licence from AVS.
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in small animal practice/have completed a rotating or specialty internship at a referral centre.
