Junior Legal Counsel

Background:

JSC Novatek is the largest private owned gas company in Russia. Today it is the major shareholder of Yamal LNG project.

Novatek Gas and Power Asia Pte. Ltd. is the trading company for JSC Novatek’s LNG with marketing LNG and looking at expand its business in Asia.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to support commercial functions of our LNG business. The successful candidate will contribute to the drafting, review, and administration of commercial related documents. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in the LNG sector while working closely with experienced legal and commercial professionals.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and managing long-term and short-term LNG sales and purchase agreements (SPAs);
• Support the preparation and review of transactional documents associated with LNG sales and trading activities;
• Assist in identifying legal and commercial risks in proposed transactions and suggest practical solutions under the supervision of senior legal counsel;
• Provide legal support to commercial teams during contract negotiations and transaction execution;
• Conduct legal research upon request of senior legal team members' request;
• Review executed agreements and help monitor legal risks and compliance obligations;
• Monitor developments in laws, regulations, and industry practices relevant to the LNG sector and corporate activities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a recognized university;
• Relevant experience such as exposure to energy, commodities, shipping, trading would be an advantage;
• Experience in drafting commercial contracts would be an advantage;
• Understanding of commercial and corporate law principles;
• Excellent written and spoken English;
• Strong drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with commercial and business teams.
