We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented legal professional to join our Building & Construction practice. The successful candidate will support a broad range of contentious and non-contentious construction, infrastructure, and energy matters, including arbitration, litigation, adjudication, and contract advisory work.
The role involves handling complex construction contracts. Familiarity with standard form construction contracts, including FIDIC and other commonly used industry forms, would be advantageous. The candidate should also be familiar with various institutional arbitration rules, aside from SIAC to complement the firm’s international practice. The successful candidate will work closely with counsel and senior lawyers on contentious and non-contentious matters, contributing to the delivery of practical, commercially focused legal advice and dispute resolution strategies.
This role suits a candidate with approximately 5 years of post-qualification experience (or equivalent dispute resolution experience) and strong interest in construction law.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) or equivalent
Admitted to practice (preferred) or relevant dispute resolution experience
5 years PQE in construction, infrastructure, or commercial disputes (preferred)
Strong academic background and demonstrated interest in construction law
Key Responsibilities
Arbitration & Dispute Resolution
Assist in preparation of pleadings, witness statements, and written submissions
Conduct legal research on construction and infrastructure disputes
Review contracts, correspondence, and evidentiary documents
Support counsel throughout arbitration proceedings
Litigation & Court Matters
Draft affidavits, pleadings, submissions, and related court documents
Manage case files and coordinate with clients, experts, and external stakeholders
Assist in court preparation, hearings, and case strategy discussions
Adjudication (Construction Payment Disputes)
Prepare adjudication claims, responses, and supporting documents
Analyse payment disputes and contractual entitlement issues
Manage timelines and procedural compliance under relevant adjudication frameworks
Legal Advisory & Contracts
Review and draft construction-related contracts and project documentation
Provide legal advice on contractual interpretation, risk allocation, and compliance
Conduct due diligence and support regulatory/legal risk assessments
Assist in preparing legal opinions for construction and infrastructure projects
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent drafting and written communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple matters and meet tight deadlines
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Team-oriented with good interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal research databases
Ability to communicate in English; additional language skills (Mandarin and/or Malay) is an advantage
