Job Summary

The Chartering Executive supports the Chartering Manager in securing cargo and managing vessel charters to maximize profitability and operational efficiency through market analysis, negotiation, and stakeholder coordination.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze freight market trends, vessel availability, and cargo demand to inform chartering decisions
• Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand the company’s chartering portfolio
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, ship-owners, and cargo clients to facilitate successful chartering agreements
• Assist in negotiating and finalizing charter party agreements to secure competitive rates and favorable terms for the company
• Ensure all contractual obligations are met and documented accurately to maintain compliance and operational integrity
• Evaluate risks associated with chartering deals and recommend mitigation strategies to protect company interests
• Ensure compliance with company policies, chartering procedures, and international shipping regulations
• Maintain accurate records of chartering agreements and related documentation for audit and reference purposes
• Liaise with ship-owners, brokers, cargo operators, and internal departments to ensure smooth execution of charters
• Prepare regular reports on chartering activities, market conditions, and performance metrics to support management decisions
• Provide insights and recommendations to improve chartering processes and enhance profitability
• Manage multiple charters and tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail
• Apply advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to analyze data and produce professional reports
• Demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy when resolving disputes and operational issues

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with brokers, clients, and internal teams
• Ability to analyze market trends and make data-driven decisions
• Proficient in identifying and resolving operational and contractual issues
• Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with clients, brokers, and ship-owners
• High level of professionalism and diplomacy in dispute resolution
• Strong multitasking skills to manage multiple charters and tasks under tight deadlines
• Attention to detail in documentation and operational follow-ups
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for reporting and analysis
• Familiarity with charter party agreements, freight markets, and industry practices
• Knowledge of international shipping laws and regulations

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field
• A pass in Mandarin language
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in shipping, chartering, or freight operations
