Crude Oil Trader

Position Summary

The Crude Oil Trader is responsible for developing, negotiating and executing crude oil trading strategies that maximize value creation while managing market, credit, and operational risks. The role requires deep understanding of global crude markets, physical and derivatives trading, logistics, supply-demand fundamentals, and commercial opportunities across key regions.

The individual will work as part of a dynamic global crude oil trading team with presence in Europe, the Americas and Asia, contributing to the Company's global trading strategy and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a member of a dynamic Global Crude Oil Team based in Europe, America and Singapore.
• Develop, negotiate and conclude crude oil trades in line with the Company's global trading strategy.
• Maintain a deep focus on crude oil markets, particularly market flows driving Sour and Sweet crude markets.
• Identify, evaluate and execute physical crude trading opportunities across global markets.
• Develop and implement trading strategies to optimize profitability while maintaining risk within approved limits.
• Build and maintain relationships with producers, refiners, trading companies, financial institutions and logistics providers.
• Monitor global crude oil supply-demand balances, refinery economics, freight markets and geopolitical developments impacting crude pricing.
• Analyze arbitrage opportunities between regions, grades and delivery points.
• Structure and negotiate term agreements, spot transactions and strategic commercial arrangements.
• Coordinate closely with Operations, Scheduling, Risk Management, Finance, Contracts, Compliance and Middle Office functions.
• Manage exposure through appropriate hedging strategies utilizing futures, swaps and OTC instruments.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, risk limits and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to business development initiatives and support the expansion of trading activities in existing and emerging markets.
• Prepare market intelligence, trading recommendations and commercial proposals for management review.
• Develop and maintain analytical models to support trading decisions and identify market opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Master's degree or MBA is considered an advantage.
• Strong understanding of global crude oil markets, refinery economics and energy trading.
• Knowledge of physical and paper crude markets.
• Solid analytical, quantitative and commercial skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and market analytics tools.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Additional languages are considered a plus.
