We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Inventory & Procurement Executive to oversee inventory planning and procurement for a fast-growing retail business with approximately 200 SKUs. Our product portfolio includes snacks, chocolates, biscuits, beverages, personal care products, household essentials, and wellness supplements such as protein powders, vitamins, and creatine.
This role is responsible for ensuring optimal inventory levels, sourcing quality products at competitive prices, and supporting efficient warehouse and order fulfilment operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving purchasing efficiency, controlling inventory costs, and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels across approximately 200 SKUs.
- Forecast inventory requirements based on sales trends and business demand.
- Ensure timely replenishment to minimise stock shortages and excess inventory.
- Analyse inventory movement and identify fast-moving, slow-moving, and obsolete products.
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and generate inventory reports.
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Source, evaluate, and appoint new suppliers to improve pricing, product quality, and supply reliability.
- Manage purchasing activities with existing wholesalers and suppliers.
- Negotiate competitive pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and supply agreements.
- Compare supplier quotations and recommend cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Identify opportunities for bulk purchasing, promotional buys, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure quality, delivery, and service standards are consistently met.
Order Fulfilment & Warehouse Operations
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure timely picking, packing, and dispatch of customer orders.
- Monitor incoming deliveries and verify quantities against purchase orders.
- Ensure products are stored safely and organised according to inventory best practices.
- Support warehouse operations and inventory control activities when required.
Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with management on demand forecasting, purchasing strategies, and inventory planning.
- Recommend new products, suppliers, and process improvements based on market trends and business needs.
- Develop and improve inventory control procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Prepare purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance reports.
- Perform other duties assigned to support business operations.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, inventory management, warehouse operations, or a similar role.
- Experience managing inventory within a retail, FMCG, e-commerce, or distribution environment is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound commercial judgement.
- Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Highly organised, meticulous, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Experience with inventory management or ERP systems is an advantage.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Physically fit to assist with stock handling and warehouse activities when required.
