Senior Manager – Transport

This role will lead and oversee daily transport operations across container haulage and local distribution within a fast-paced contract logistics environment. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing transport resources, enhancing customer service performance, and owning the full P&L of the transport business to deliver profitability in line with financial targets, while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards.

Responsibilities:

·      Manage transport operational budgets, ensure effective cost control, and deliver profitability in line with financial targets.

·      Drive operational efficiency through effective vehicle scheduling, route planning, and resource optimization in collaboration with operations teams.

·      Monitor, analyze, and report operational KPIs to enhance productivity, service levels, cost efficiency, and overall team performance.

·      Manage and respond to RFQs/RFPs,including pricing strategy and coordination with internal stakeholders to support business development.

·      Negotiate transportation rates and manage strategic relationships with transport vendors, contractors, and service providers.

·      Identify and pursue new transport business opportunities in partnership with account management andcommercial teams to support growth.

·      Ensure optimal manpower allocation and resource planning to meet evolving operational and customer requirements.

·      Lead operational transformation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance scalability, service performance, and efficiency.

·      Drive digitalization through effective use of TMS, data analytics, and operational technologies.

·      Oversee incident and accident management, including investigation, reporting, and implementation of correctiveand preventive measures.

·      Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with workplace safety, regulatory, and operationalrequirements.

Requirements:

·      Minimum8 years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, or 3PL operations, with at least 5 years in a people leadership role.  

·      Degreein Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

·      Strong operational knowledge of container haulage, local distribution, and Singapore's port operations and processes.

·      Solid experience in transport planning and fleet management systems.

·      Experiencein cross-border transport operations between Singapore and Malaysia is an added advantage. 

·      Provenleadership capability with the ability to lead and develop teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

·      Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a continuous improvement mindset.

·      Excellentstakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with external partners.

·      Established industry network within the transport and logistics sector, including contractors and service providers, is advantageous.

·      Self-driven, resilient, and able to perform effectively under pressure and within demanding operational timelines.
