Senior Procurement/Pricing Executive

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Procurement/Pricing Executive to join our Operations & Pricing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and negotiating competitive ocean freight rates, managing carrier relationships, supporting tender submissions, and providing market intelligence to internal stakeholders.

This role requires strong negotiation skills, market awareness, and the ability to collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Regional Procurement teams to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Rate Negotiation

• Secure monthly and NAC (Named Account) buying rates from ocean carriers, NVOCCs, and co-loaders.
• Negotiate buying rates based on current market trends, rate levels, and overall loading volumes.
• Maintain and update local buying rates (including ocean freight and pre-carriage) in the GPM system.
• Ensure all active buying rates are accurately updated and monitored in the ABS system for easy retrieval by the operations team.

Tender & Sales Support

• Analyse and summarize buying rates to support the Customer Service and Sales teams for prompt quotation generation.
• Provide accurate and competitive buying rates for tender and RFQ submissions.
• Collaborate closely with the Sales & Marketing team on tenders and RFQs by sharing crucial carrier services, rate insights, and market intelligence.

Vendor & Relationship Management

• Hold regular meetings with ocean carriers, NVOCCs, and co-loaders to discuss future business opportunities and partnerships.
• Act as the main point of contact with carrier sales personnel to resolve any service or space allocation issues.
• Maintain and update the company’s vendor list on an annual basis.
• Follow up with new vendors to ensure individual authorization and onboarding processes are fully completed.

Internal Collaboration

• Provide alternative carrier options to the operations team to optimize booking and cargo loading.
• Share up-to-date carrier information and market insights across the Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams.
• Participate in meetings with the regional procurement team to exchange market information and provide local buying rate updates for further regional negotiations.

Requirements:

Experience

Proven experience in ocean freight procurement, pricing, or carrier relationship management within afreight forwarding or logistics environment.

Technical Skills

proficiency in logistics operating systems (experience with GPM is a strong advantage) and MS Office,advance level in Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge

Strong understanding of shipping line structures, ocean freight market trends, and pricing mechanisms.

Soft Skills &Personality

• Must be outspoken, high confident, and socially proactive.
• Demonstrated willingness and initiative to regularly arrange, organize, and lead meetings with carriers, co-loaders, and various logistics vendors.
• Sharp negotiation skills, analytical mindset for rate comparison, and excellent communication skills to coordinate with regional teams and external carriers.
