Job Summary

The Storekeeper is responsible for the accurate receiving, handling, storage, and dispatch of ship spares and marine equipment. This role ensures that all cargo is managed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with internal SOPs and customer requirements. The Storekeeper works closely with operations, transport, and customer service teams to support smooth day-to-day logistics activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Receiving & Inspection

• Receive incoming ship spares from local suppliers, airport cargo terminals, and port facilities.
• Verify quantities, part numbers, and conditions against AWB, CIPL, packing lists, and delivery orders.
• Report discrepancies or damages to the Operations Supervisor immediately.
• Ensure proper identification and tagging of all incoming cargo.

2. Storage & Inventory Management

• Allocate cargo into designated storage locations based on size, sensitivity, and customer requirements.
• Maintain accurate inventory records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Conduct daily and cycle counts to ensure stock accuracy.
• Ensure storage areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.

3. Picking, Packing & Dispatch

• Prepare ship spares for delivery to vessels, agents, airports, or customers’ premises.
• Pick and pack items according to picklists and delivery instructions.
• Coordinate with drivers and transport vendors for timely dispatch.
• Ensure proper documentation is attached, including DOs, packing lists, and customs paperwork where required.

4. Cargo Handling & Movement

• Use forklift, pallet jack, or manual handling equipment to move cargo safely.
• Support unstuffing/stuffing of containers and loose cargo handling.
• Follow safe-handling procedures for heavy, fragile, or high-value ship spares.

5. Documentation & System Updates

• Update WMS with receiving, storage, and dispatch information in real time.
• File and maintain documentation for audit and traceability.
• Assist with preparing reports (e.g., daily receiving reports, inventory summary, cargo movement logs).

6. Coordination & Customer Service

• Liaise with operations, customer service, and transport teams to ensure smooth cargo flow.
• Assist walk-in customers, vessel agents, and vendors collecting or delivering ship spares.
• Provide accurate updates on cargo readiness and location.

7. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company SOPs and safety regulations.
• Use PPE and follow WHS guidelines at all times.
• Report unsafe practices, near misses, or hazards promptly.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Minimum O-Level or equivalent; higher NITEC in logistics or related fields preferred.
• At least 1–2 years of experience in warehouse operations; experience with ship spares logistics is an advantage.
• Forklift licence is required.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control.
• Familiarity with WMS or basic computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, data entry).
• Ability to handle heavy cargo and operate warehouse equipment safely.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments with tight delivery deadlines.
